delete Delete Are you sure?
My name is Fatmata Bangura.
Crew: Talk loud.
My name is ...
Crew: Talk loud.
My name is Fatmata Bangura. I trade fish at Tamba Kula.
Abdul Kamara is my husband.
Crew: Abdul Kamara is your husband?
Yes.
Crew: What is the relationship between you and him?
He is my husband.
Crew: Okay.
Crew: Are you intimate?
Yes.
Crew: what is the last thing you remember both of you doing before he got sick?
Before he got sick we went somewhere and then I left him with his friends happily as I went to town.
When I returned he started complaining about his stomach.
Crew: When you heard that he is Ebola positive how did you feel?
Well, I am not glad about that.
Crew: Why aren't you glad?
Because Ebola is dangerous. It can finish a whole family.
I was worried sick about myself more due to my pregnancy and also for my neighbors. So I wasn’t happy about anything.
Crew: How are you managing with the quarantine?
Well, I thank God, it looks better because people are encouraging me to be strong. I am not feeling bothered.
The day they called me to say he died I cried a lot and up till now I am crying. I don’t know if he’s alive or not.
Crew: Do you fear that you will have Ebola?
Well its been 2 weeks now
today 15 days since he was admitted to the hospital and I am not feeling any difference in my body.
Actually, when he got infected I visited the hospital for check-ups to know my status but they sent me home.
Two weeks now I am normal and not feeling any different.
Crew: Do you feel he will get well?
Yes.
Crew: Why do you feel so?
I gave him a phone when I visited him. We used to talk on the phone and he told me that he’s getting better.
The other day I visited the hospital the nurse told me the phone has dropped inside the chlorine and it is not working anymore.
Since then we stopped contact until the next day when I received a call that he was dead.
Crew: If they say he got Ebola who will you blame?
I have no one to blame. Because Ebola is complex especially how people get involved with it.
I don’t know whether it is from where we do business he got infected with the disease or from his friends. I don’t know really.
Because I think that one of his friends was Ebola positive so I don’t know if it was from them he got the disease.
Crew: What is the name of his friend?
Alpha.
Crew: Alpha what?
I don’t know his surname.
Crew: He is the best friend?
Yes.
Crew: If you hear that he is well and then you see him coming what will you do?
I will be glad.
Crew: How will you be glad?
I will cry instantly because I have been told that he was dead and if I see him alive I would be overjoyed.
Crew: overjoy?
Crew: Why would you over joy?
Because he left me with pregnancy. I don’t know whether he will return or not, so if I see him alive,
I will be so happy because my unborn child will see his father. I will be so glad about that.
